Allotey Jacobs to NPP: "I’m Sorry"

The Central Regional Communications Director of the NDC, Allotey Jacobs, has rendered an unqualified apology to the entire New Patriotic Party fraternity for his unsavory words against the party and its Greater Accra Regional Communications Director, Michael Ampong.

He stated: “I went overboard on Tuesday and after sleeping and reflecting on what happened; I think it is best I withdraw my statement.”

The “educated fisherman” who sounded remorseful on Okay Fm Wednesday Morning, a day after heaping a barrage of offensive words on the NPP pleaded for forgiveness.

Allotey Jacobs called into Okay FM’s ‘Ghana Decides’ programme on Tuesday afteroon, to react to an allegation by Michael Ampong, the Greater Accra Regional Communications Director of the NPP, that he was a fetish priest back in his hometown, Kormanten, in the Central Region, and therefore lacked the moral right to reprimand any man of God in the case of Rev. Isaac Owusu-Bempah.

“I have friends in the NPP...I have very good friends in the leadership of the NPP, some of them began to call me, then I realized that what I said was in a bad taste.

"Especially my senior brother, Kwamena Bartels, who is a very close friend, and for him to call me and express disgust about my statement, then, it goes a long way that I have to rescind and apologize. So I take Okay FM’s platform to apologize to all my very good friends in the NPP as well as the NPP party for whatever I said. I’m very sorry,” Allotey Jacobs said in a repentant voice.

Allotey Jacobs quick retraction and apology comes on the heels of President John Maham’s advice to the Eastern Regional House of Chiefs to be bold to name and shame any politician who uses unprintable words against a colleague.

The Central Regional Communications Director of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Bernard Allotey Jacobs had described the founder and leader of Glorious Word Ministry International, Rev. Isaac Owusu Bempah as an ‘Anti-Christ’ for his prophecy being carried in the media about “President Mahama’s death”.

Allotey Jacobs upon reacting to the latest hullabaloos on Asempa FM, an Accra based radio station, lambasted the man of God with no regrets on words he used on him as an Anti-Christ.

This confrontation between Allotey Jacobs of the NDC and Michael Ampong was as a result of a prophecy by Prophet Isaac Owusu-Bempah, that the President will die before the end of the year if nothing was done to avert it.

This prophecy has drew lots of criticism from a section of the clergy and politicians who have described the Prophet as an ‘Anti Christ’ and a ‘dooms prophet’.
