Roads and Highways Minister, Alhaji Inusah Fuseini, is urging the public not to give credence to claims by Aluta Boys that he has neglected them.

According to Alhaji Fuseini who is also the Tamale Central legislator, he has at all times been at the beck and call of the vigilante group which affiliates itself with the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC), assisting them in any capacity where possible.

Citifmonline.com reported on Saturday that the group took hostage of one of the campaign vehicles of the Tamale Central legislator and demanded that he secures them better jobs before releasing the branded Nissan pickup with registration number GN3625-14.

The vehicle was seized at Changli with the action said to have nearly marred the beauty of the campaign launch of the legislator.

Inside sources say what triggered the action was the whopping sum of GH?80,000 that was allegedly doled out to dancehall artiste Shatta Wale to perform at the campaign launch of the MP.

They feel being neglected by the MP having worked for him so many years.

But Alhaji Inusah Fuseini responding to the issues told Fiifi Banson on Anopa Kasapa on Kasapa 102.3 FM on Monday that the vigilante group has always been at the core of his heart, responding to their needs whenever the need arises.

“My association with the Aluta Boys goes back to 1998 when they were yet to form Young Boys when I was TEIN President. At that time, their political opponents attacked and shot them with locally manufactured pistol. Hon. Haruna Iddrisu and I took them to hospital for the pellets to be removed before they were later taken to a local herbalist for the wounds to be treated”, he noted.

He catalogued a number of instances where he has assisted the group members in securing jobs from the various ministries he has served as minister and deputy minister.

“When I became a deputy Minister and even before I entered into politics, at that time as a stakeholder in the party I assisted them. Prior to going to the Local Government Ministry, one of the boys was under my care. At Natural Resources Ministry I also engaged one of them as a forest guard. At Roads and Highways, I also engaged some of them. So, what they are saying is not true. I am yet to receive an official complaint from the Aluta Boys.”

“I have given a catalogue of what assistance I have ensured including the payment of school fees and helping secure appointments for them. As I speak to you, one of them has just completed his national service at the Controller and Accountant General’s Department. He was the secretary of the group. So, I know them very well and I am yet to meet them. So, I am not holding them responsible for anything until I meet them,” he explained.
