The New Patriotic Party (NPP) stalwart and Member of Parliament (MP) for Abuakwa South, who is reported to have written the “insults and evil” speech delivered by Dr. Mensa Otabil, last Wednesday, rundown himself completely, saying he is a man of “small mind” who is unfit to write a speech for the General Overseer.

Reports have unearthed Lawyer Samuel Atta Akyea, as the brain behind last Monday’s press statement, read by the founder of the International Central Gospel Church (ICGC), which was heavily laden with insults and derogatory innuendoes, but the Abuakwa South MP has flatly denied his involvement in drafting the speech.

Dr. Otabil in his speech described members of the ruling party as “evil, schizophrenics, criminals, Machiavellians, surrogates, and tasked President John Mahama to call his people, who were using his (Otabil) “Living Word” sermons in radio adverts without his authority, to order.

But reacting to the publication made in The Herald, during a radio interview in Accra, Lawyer Atta Akyea, who is the legal advisor and a personal friend of Dr. Otabil, denied writing the speech as he is “ too small in mind” to assist a man who holds “Phd in divinity”.

He said “am too small in mind to improve upon Otabil’s thinking and writing” stating “ I think it’s about three months now, and I’ve never met Otabil and he has never called me to come and help him write his speech”.

The NPP MP who carries himself as the most intelligent man on earth, shockingly revealed that “am too small to think for him”, stressing that Otabil “speaks on international platforms and has a closest of a mind”.

Mr. Atta Akyea, who is described as a Visiting Pastor in ICGC, said “Otabil is too intelligent to have a surrogate writer if people don’t know”.

He asked; “do you know who Rev. Otabil is? closest of a mind. Am too small to think for him…so what is he talking about? “I’ve never been involved in what Otabil is doing,” Atta Akyea screamed.

He described the report as “palpable lie coming from the pitch of darkness”, pleading for the reporter who broke the story to “leave him alone”.

The Lawmaker also accused the reporter for always peddling and publishing falsehood reports about him for which cannot know account.

Preaching from the Bible, Mr. Atta Akyea stated that the action “does not glorify the Lord”, because “the Bible says you shall not lay falsehood about your neighbour”.

He touted his boss, Dr. Otabil as “an international figure, he’s a Chancellor of a University. This man speaks on international conferences and am too small to improve upon his thinking and writing” Atta Akyea disclosed.

The Herald is informed that the NPP MP was behind the writing of the speech for the ICGC head. The legislator, has on many occasions mounted ICGC branded pulpits at different churches, including Glorious Temple at Nungua-Adegon, and spoken on behalf of Dr. Otabil, who reports say was once given a diplomatic passport by Nana Akufo-Addo, when he served as Foreign Minister in the Kufuor regime.

During one of such preachings, Lawyer Atta Akyea, who ran away from ascending the Ofori Panyi Stool as Okyehene, is said to have stunned the congregation, led by one Rev. Odoitei, with revelations that years ago, his stool used to rear humans like animals for rituals.

Insiders told this paper that Lawyer Atta Akyea was very instrumental in drafting the General Overseer’s insult-laden statement, read out to the press last Monday, at his Holy Ghost Temple Church at Aboso Okai in Accra, to mitigate the confusion that his controversial tapes have generated against the Nana Akufo-Addo campaign.

Lawyer Atta Akyea, who is a cousin to the NPP flagbearer, is said to have advised Dr. Otabil to describe the use of his recorded sermons on topical national issues like education, moral uprightness, good leadership, hard work and love for the nation, currently shaping the political discourse for the forthcoming elections, as defamatory, criminal and malicious.

The lawyer, who replaced Nana Addo as MP of the Abuakwa South Constituency in the Eastern Region, is also said to have convinced Dr. Otabil to speak against the use of his recorded voice without his authority as his intellectual property, requiring his strict permission before its usage.

Dr. Otabi has also been a regular special guest speaker at the annual William Ofori Atta Memorial Lecture, sponsored by Nana Addo. Dr. Otabil is also the Board chairman of Mr. Ken-Ofori Atta’s Data Bank. Mr. Ofori-Atta is also a cousin of NPP flagbearer and board member of Central University College, a University founded by Dr. Otabil. The pastor has many times used this platform to chastise leaders of the country, especially the current government.

Although he attended such programmes, Dr. Otabil, boycotted the regular prayer sessions held by the late President John Mills throughout the period that they were held, although many pastors including Bishop Agyin Asare, Archbishop Duncan Williams, Rev. Eastwood Anaba, Bishops James Saah, Rev. Lawrence Tetteh among others were always present.
