Mankrong-Junction, (C/R) April 13, GNA - Mrs. Ama Benyimah Doe, National Women Organizer of the National Democratic Congress(NDC) has called on Ghanaians to reject the ruling New Patriotic Party(NPP) in the December general elections. She said the bad policies of the ruling government had brought untold economic hardship on the people, especially women and urged the people to vote massively for NDC.

Mrs. Benyimah Doe said these when she addressed separate meetings at Mankrong-Juntcion, Agona Osardu, Mankrong and Agona Aboano in the Agona East Constituency of the Central region at the weekend. The NDC Women Organizer who received a rousing welcome in the Constituency said the people should vote NDC to power in the December elections because the Flagbearer, Prof. John Evans Atta Mills has excellent policies and programmes to remove them from shackles of poverty. Mrs Benyimah Doe said there were indications that the people of the country would reject the ruling NPP in this year's elections. She explained that in 2000, oil price went high, while international export commodities such as cocoa, gold, timber and others were relatively low which affected the economy of the state.

The NDC Women Organizer said upon all those external shocks, in 2000, NDC government was able to sell a gallon of petrol for 6,400 old Ghana cedis, adding that NPP was enjoying high prices of these commodities but yet a gallon of petrol is sold at five Ghana cedis. On the selection of Mr. John Dramani Mahama as running mate to Prof Mills, Mrs. Doe urged the NDC supporters to remain calm and rally solidly behind the Presidential Candidate to emerge victorious in the December elections. She urged members of NDC to work hard to enable the party to win a landslide and cautioned against NDC defeat in the December elections. Mrs. Benyimah Doe said NPP was seriously sharing money to influence their votes and stressed that the money being shared was for the country and they have the right to take and vote against them. She called on the supporters who have gone to join other political parties to come back because victory is boldly written on the walls for NDC in this year's elections.

Mr. John Oremus Arkoh, Agona East Secretary assured the national and regional executives of the party that the constituency executives and supporters would work extremely hard to win the Parliamentary seat from the NPP. He said the people in the constituency were fed up with the ruling NPP's policies and programmes, saying that, with Mr Theophilus Fuseini Maranga chosen as Parliamentary Candidate, elections results in December would be different. Mr Arkoh noted that enough grounds had been prepared to enable them to defeat the NPP and appealed to the National and Campaign Team of Prof Atta Mills to assist them with logistics supports.
