Mr Bright Edward Kodzo Demordzi, the MP for Bortiano Ngleshie Amanfrom in the Greater Accra region, has expressed satisfaction with the ongoing road construction works in his constituency.

Mr Demordzi told the Ghana News Agency in an interview in Accra that, the roads constructed will ease the traffic congestion and speed up development in the area.

He commended the contractor for work done so far, adding that, even though construction started barely a year ago, they have been able to finish the drainage system and are on the first surfacing of the roads.

Mr Demordzi said the two year contract was awarded in May 2014 to Joshob Construction limited, a Ghanaian construction firm at the cost of GFHC 30million.

“After I took office in 2013, I wrote to President Mahama on the nature of the roads and the level of congestion especially on Fridays.

The MP said the President referred him to the then Minister of Roads and Highways instructing him to pay attention to the issue.

He said he followed up the issue with questions on the floor of Parliament demanding to know when the roads from old barrier to Kasoa will be constructed.

Mr Demordzi said he sent another letter to the urban roads and was informed that the road was awarded in May 2014 for work to begin in June 2014.

He mentioned specifically the Cape Coast road, old barrier through to Tuba, Kokrobite, Nyanyano to Sapato junction. Other roads are the JD to Obom and Canal to Kuwait to Iron City through to Amanfrom junction to Top town, New Bortianor to old Bortianor.

He said the JD junction through Amanfrom township linking Obom road to Bawjiase are preparatory works towards the main Kasoa interchange on the main street light junction in Kasoa.

“From the old broadcasting road to where the towers are located (GBC transmitters), near the mountain area will be looked at by next year,” he added.
