Ambassador Dedo Difie, MCE stock schools’ labs with ICT equipment

Lower Manya Krobo Simon Kweku Tetteh has presented ICT equipment to schools in the Lower Manya Krobo municipality

All Senior High Schools in the Lower Manya Krobo municipality of the Eastern Region are benefiting from a special initiative by the Municipal Chief Executive of the area and Ghana’s ambassador to Korea Republic in collaboration with the Gyeonggido Office of Education in the Republic of Korea, says MCE for the area, Hon. Simon Kweku Tetteh.

Hon. Simon Kweku Tetteh and Her Excellency, Agyarko Dedo Kusi Difie together with the Gyeonggido Office of Education are under the initiative distributing a total of 50 computers, laptops and interactive headsets to the schools to stock their respective ICT labs to enhance ICT studies.

Three schools, the Manya Krobo Senior High School (MAKROSEC) which is offering ICT as an elective subject, Akuse Methodist Senior High School, (AMEST) and Akro Senior High School have so far received interactive headsets with complete desktop computers and accessories and laptops.

The gesture it is hoped will boost the study of ICT education especially in the midst of a rapidly developing ICT and modern ICT transformation around the world.

At the Akuse Methodist Senior High School, the Assistant headmaster of the school, Mr. Lawson Azalekor received the items before a cheerful student body on behalf of the headmaster, staff and students.

Though he was grateful to the Municipal Chief Executive and the ambassador that several appeals of the school for assistance were beginning to bear fruits, he nevertheless appealed for a dining and assembly hall for the school.

At MAKROSEC, Mrs. Agnes Nanor, Headmistress of the school who received the equipment at a special ceremony at the forecourt of the Administration block on behalf of the School expressed her heartfelt appreciation to the Hon. MCE and all the partners who supported to make this donation possible and assured the MCE of the resolve to put the equipment to good use and properly maintain them.

Ghana’s ambassador to Korea, Agyarko Dedo Kusi Difie, a native of the area, aside this gesture is undertaking a number of developmental projects in various communities in the municipal notable among these being two borehole projects for Oborpah Djekiti and Ketem. Hon. Simon Kweku Tetteh who acknowledged her exceptional role in the development of the area also underscored President Akuffo Addo’s commitment to education under his administration.

Hon. Simon Kweku Tetteh who described the gesture as further proof of President Akuffo Addo’s dedication to his transformation agenda to enhance the study of ICT gave the firm assurance of other schools receiving their fair share of the computers under the ICT partnership initiative as he called on other proud sons and daughters of the area to come on board and support the transformation agenda.

The donation comes as the latest project being undertaken by Hon Simon Tetteh. The Assembly Chief is currently pursuing the execution of a number of projects in various Senior High Schools including the construction of a 12-unit classroom block each for Manya Krobo Senior High School and Akro Senior High School, a 10-seater toilet facility each for the Manya Krobo Senior High School and Akro Senior High School, chairs and tables for AMEST, MAKROSEC and Akro and a dormitory block for AMEST.
