Ambassador Dr Alabo receives Russian award

On October 15, 2015, Ghana's Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the Russian Federation and Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), His Excellency Dr. Kodzo K. Alabo, was awarded the Medal of the National Academy of Applied Sciences of the Russian Federation in a ceremony that took place in the Hall for Ceremonies "Rotonda" at the Russian Academy of Sciences in Moscow.

The decision to give him the highest award of the Academy was made by the Presidium of the National Academy of Applied Sciences of the Russian Federation in recognition of "the great contribution to the development of friendship and cooperation between the Republic of Ghana and the Russian Federation."

Presenting the award, the President of the National Academy of Applied Sciences of the Russian Federation, Yury M. Davydov noted the long-standing friendship and strategic partnership that have developed since the establishment of diplomatic relations between the Republic of Ghana and the Russian Federation.

"On behalf of the Presidium of the Academy, I congratulate you with this high award. We wish you a lot of happiness and joy and success in your fruitful activities," said Davydov while awarding the Ambassador.

In his acceptance, H.E Dr. Kodzo K. Alabo expressed deep gratitude to the Presidium of the National Academy of Applied Sciences of the Russian Federation for the honor bestowed on him.

"I sincerely thank you for this award that I shall treasure all my life. I dedicate it to the friendship between the great people of Ghana and Russia as well as to all those who are committed to taking advantage of this friendship to positively impact on their lives in our two countries," Dr. Alabo said; and gave assurances to strengthen and raise further the existing friendship and cooperation for the mutual benefit of the two nations.

The Presidium of the National Academy of Applied Sciences of the Russian Federation, at the same ceremony, also recognized the contributions made by the Spanish Ambassador to the Russian Federation, Dr. José Ignacio Carbajal Gárate, for developing strong cultural and educational exchanges between Spain and Russia.

The Academy gave awards and certificates to more than 20 Russians for remarkable achievements in different spheres including few military officers connected with the Great Patriotic War, 1941-1945.
