Reports say that Police on barrier duty on the Adomi Bridge last week intercepted an ambulance loaded with 25 bags of dried leaves, suspected to be Indian hemp, worth millions of cedis.
Two persons, Kojo Konadu, the driver and Kofi Mensah who were occupants of the ambulance are helping the police in their investigations.
DSP Ebenezar Addo, the Akosombo District Police Commander, who the paper spoke to, stated that his men on duty intercepted the ambulance on Thursday March 13, while it was travelling to Kpando but burst a tyre at Asikuma near the CEPS barrier.
The driver alleged that on returning to Accra after a visit to see the wife, some people asked him to carry the load of 25 mini bags for them, where he charged them ?600,000 without knowing the exact content and the owners followed in a different car.
The ambulance has the registration number GW 798 T, believed to be privately operated and based at Korle-Bu.
