The Students Representative Council (SRC) of Amedzofe College of Education in the Ho West District of the Volta region said the College is dying slowly from deprivation and neglect and called for support.

Mr Prince Raymond Alorwu, the SRC President, said the College, arguably had the poorest infrastructure among Colleges of Education, having been abandoned by the Evangelical Presbyterian Church, old students and other stakeholders in education.

He said the College, built in 1946 on the 2400 feet above sea level Amedzofe Mountain, was suffering under harsh climatic conditions with visible break down of some of its infrastructure.

Mr Alorwu who was addressing the College's SRC Week celebration said the College could only boast of facilities in ruins, especially a dilapidated one-storey classroom block showing weak floor panels and broken wooden floors covered with blocks.

He said the block's ceilings were also leaking, with students jostling for cover whenever it rained.

Mr Alorwu said their auditorium was another facility in near ruins, as it could barely accommodate half of the student population of about 412, forcing them to extend seats outside when in use.

The SRC President said though the environment appeared conducive for teaching and learning, lack of educational infrastructure was negatively affecting academic work.

The SRC Week celebration was therefore towards mobilising money to address some of the concerns and also complete the College's Internet project and to commence work on the building of an SRC secretariat.

Mr. Emmanuel Kwasi Bedzrah, Member of Parliament for Ho West Constituency, applauded the SRC leadership for selecting the IT project in an era of technological advancement and pledged to support it.
