Anti-corruption campaigner Martin Amidu has accused Deputy Attorney General Dominic Ayine of granting a whistle-blower status to investigative journalist Anas Aremeyaw.
He said it is therefore not surprising that Anas’ lawyer Kissi Agyabeng is a former partner of Mr. Ayine’s law firm - Legal resources.
Amidu has attacked the genuineness and credibility of Anas' investigative work on the Judiciary that shocked the nation few months ago.
He alleges that the work was commissioned by the government out of disdain for the judiciary.
But the deputy attorney general told the media Thursday that the claims are strange and speculative.
“It’s all speculation. I don’t have any evidence of a video being shown to the legislature. As I keep saying it is a question of evidence.
“If he says the legislators were invited to watch a video, he should tell us when that took place, where it took place, who were involved and we can cross-examine those people,” Dr. Ayine stressed.
However, reacting to the claims on the Morning Starr with host Nii Arday Clegg Friday, Amidu warned Dr. Ayine to desist from provoking him with his utterances.
“ I can understand the game they are playing. If Ayine and co have decided to grant the guy (Anas) a whistleblower status for their own political reasons that is their problem. If Ayine were wise, he would have looked for a lawyer who has nothing to do with the case and hand Anas over to him and not his former colleague and lecturer at Legon,” he fumed.
