President Akufo-Addo, yesterday, swore-in the new Deputy Special Prosecutor, Cynthia Lamptey.

Ms Lamptey, the former acting Director of Public Prosecution at the Attorney General’s Office, is to assist the Special Prosecutor, Martin Alamisi Burns Kaiser Amidu, to discharge his duties effectively in accordance with the law.

Moments after administering the oaths of office and secrecy to Ms Lamptey, the President charged her to live up to expectation.

He expressed optimism that Ms Lamptey would perform creditably due to her record in the legal profession and public office.

The President promised to submit the names of members of the governing board to the Council of State for approval in the coming days to enable the Special Prosecutor investigate and prosecute public officers on corruption-related cases.

Ms Lamptey, on her part, reiterated her commitment to assisting Mr Amidu in the performance of his duties and thanked the government and people of Ghana for the confidence reposed in her.

Present at the event were Mr Amidu, the Special Prosecutor and Gloria Akuffo, the Attorney General and Minister of Justice.
