Pollster and Editor of the Daily Dispatch, Ben Ephson, says the high level of maturity exhibited by the newly sworn-in Vice President during his vetting would silence his critics.

The Vice Presidents’ nomination by President John Mahama following the death of President Mills attracted opposition from some big wigs within the ruling NDC.

He was sworn in as the fifth Vice President of the 4th Republic some few hours after his public vetting on Monday.

Mr. Ephson in an interview with XYZ News said the Vice President must translate his performance at the vetting into assisting the President to develop the economy within the next five months.

"The Vice President clearly showed his maturity and for those within the NDC who felt that they did not know him within the party...I think that he has proved his mettle to them and he has to translate that into helping the President run the government well".

Ben Ephson added that it will be strategic for President Mahama to name Mr. Amissah Arthur as his running mate.

“It would be politically unwise for Mahama to select somebody else because we need to bear in mind that in about six weeks all the Presidential candidates will have to submit the names of their Presidential candidates and their running mates for the 2012 elections.

“I expect that he [Amissah-Arthur] will automatically be the running mate. If President Mahama chooses somebody different that will be a political disaster for Mahama and the NDC”.**
