Legal Practitioner Dr Maurice Ampaw has cautioned against overly celebrating some eleven judges who ace investigative Journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas has said are incorruptible.
Anas whose two (2) years’ of investigative piece has established some 34 Judges implicated in corrupt practices in the discharge of their duties has also issued a list of eleven judges who refused to take bribes from him during his work.
He sent their names to the Chief Justice Georgina Theodora Woode in a petition recommending them; part of the letter which said “these judges were more than ready to put me behind bars”.
The eleven include Kwesi Boakye, Bright Mensah, Constance Hometorwu, Georgina Mensah Datsey, Afia Serwaa Asare Botchway, Anthony Oppong, Felicia Dedzi, Charles Kwesi Acheampong, Samuel Djane Quartey, Abdul Abdullai, and Bright Ajosagi.
However, speaking on Okay FM on Monday, Dr Maurice Ampaw said these Judges must not be made to be seen as holy as they are currently being projected to the public.
“I’m saying these Judges may not be angels as it appears to be put out there. The fact that Anas was not successful in bribing them does not mean they are not bribable. It may well be the case that his approach in wanting to establish their complicity in corrupt practices failed this time around. If someone is an armed robber and a swoop is conducted today but the person is not caught, that doesn’t mean the person is not an armed robber.
When given the opportunity people may make cases of bribery against them; hence we must be measured in showering praises on them”.
