Anas’ mode of investigations illegal and criminal - Security Analyst

The modus operandi of ace investigative journalist, Anas Aremeyaw Anas in unravelling acts omissions and commissions by persons who fall on his radar is illegal and criminal according to security analyst Mustapha Gbande, MyNewsGh.com reports.

He believes the style of investigations of Anas is in direct breach of Security and Intelligence Act which stipulates how an investigation should be carried out wondering why he has still not been arrested for perpetrating illegality which he described as criminal.

“His mode of investigations is against the Security and Intelligence Act which stipulates how the investigation is done in Ghana. When you go to FBI Laws, you can’t do this kind of thing unless you are a Public Officer ordered by a Senior Officer. We do undercover operations in Ghana but not how Anas does his work. I am one of the few persons who think that Anas should be arrested. His mode of investigations is criminal in itself “, he disclosed.

On his recent exposé on galamsey dubbed Galamsey Fraud, he said ‘mind you every investigative piece has to be subjected to prosecution and prosecution is done by the state. How then you go and investigate somebody, capture him on video which I call entrapment which is illegal and criminal conduct. Go and show it to the public even before the person is convicted. What Anas is doing, what method is he using? I’ve heard a young man (in the video) say that I’ll fast track everything for you. For what? Is it Galamsey? Anas’ work, how many people have been convicted so far? The judges were only asked to step aside, who has so far been convicted? It is wrong for us to crucify somebody who has not been convicted before a court of competent jurisdiction.”

“So why should we go ahead and punish people who are caught on tape through an illegal means or an illegal investigation? Every accused is innocent until proven guilty. Why should we punish him when we are still going to find out the authenticity of what Anas has done”, he asked.

He took on President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo for ordering for the arrest of Former President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Kwesi Nyantakyi in the heat of the Number 12 exposé saying the President erred because the principle used in unravelling the corrupt acts were flawed.

“The President acted in a way that has put him in a fix today because it is not for the President to order for the arrest of individuals.”
