Anglican Bishop asks Ghanaians to change attitude

Right Reverend Dr Daniel Sylvanus Torto, Anglican Bishop of Accra, has asked Ghanaians to change their attitude to turn the fortunes of the nation around.

“We cannot continue to do things the same way and expect a different result. With the foregoing, it is clearly evident that a changed attitude is expedient for growth and development. Ghana needs our collective effort to change its fortunes for a better tomorrow,” he said.

Bishop Torto, who made this known in his New Year message in Accra on the theme: “Change of attitude expedient for development and growth,” said while attitudes could have a powerful effect on behaviour, “they are not set in stone”.

He noted that the same influences that lead to attitude formation could also create change of attitude, adding that social roles and norms could have a strong influence on attitudes.

He said although development encompasses many things, it is shown by the qualitative improvement of circumstances.

He observed that though growth and development may affect each other, they are not dependent on each other.

“As we enter the New Year, I believe and trust that most of us have made for ourselves resolutions. Resolutions to guide and inform our actions and aspirations.”

He said Christians should plan and pray to live a better Christian life; deepen their faith in God and Christ and try to practice to the letter Christian virtues.

“The Bible tells me that, “we should seek first the Kingdom of God, and all other things would be added up to it for us. I, therefore, know that should I serve my God better in the New Year, better things will come my way, including all that I wish for myself.

“Brothers and sisters, let this help shape your resolution for the year 2015, especially, you Christians,” he added.
