Anglican Church students' hostel dedicated

Kumasi, Jan.30, GNA- The Right Reverend Daniel Yinkah Sarfo, Anglican Bishop of Kumasi, dedicated to the lord the first phase of the Church's students' hostel built at the cost of 65,000 Ghana Cedis to house 140 students.

The hostel project at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) was funded with loans from the ECOBANK, the Church and its partner-in-mission.

Performing the ceremony on Saturday, Bishop Sarfo said the hostel would accommodate 1,500 students when completed finally. He said the Diocese of the Church in Kumasi decided in 2001 to construct a hostel at the KNUST to accommodate students as part of the public-private partnership approach to enhance university education. Bishop Safo said the hostel had internet caf=E9, supermarket, laundry, cafeteria, hair-dressing saloon, playing field and standby generator among others facilities. He commended individuals and organisations that supported the project.

Bishop Sarfo appealed to Mr Emmanuel Asamoah Owusu-Ansah, Ashanti Regional Minister, the Ashanti Regional Coordinating Council and the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly to tar the road connecting the hostel to Hotel Georgia and Crystal Rose Hotel.
