The Ankobeahemaa of Aseseeso Akuapim, Nana Aku Sika Okani, has called on fellow Queen Mothers to add their voice to the call for unity ahead of the December polls.

Nana Aku Sika described women as powerful people who influence their men and children, and therefore there is a need for their participation in advocating for peace before, during, and after the general elections.

The Ankobeahemaa made this statement during a dinner hosted by the International Association of World Peace Advocates at the National Theater in Accra, where she was appointed as a United Nations Peace Ambassador in Ghana.

She emphasized the need for her fellow Queen Mothers to pray unceasingly for Mother Ghana for peace to prevail during and after the elections. She admonished them not to underestimate the power of prayer in nation-building.

She revealed that she will use her new role as Peace Ambassador to bring together the various women's groups in the country to educate them on the importance of promoting peace, especially in this year's election. This, she said, will guide the women's groups to advocate for peace in their communities and become peace ambassadors.

She added that preaching peace without prayer will not be enough to achieve the desired goal; rather, prayer is the only means to solve the myriad problems of the nation.

She took the opportunity to appeal to the Electoral Commission of Ghana to carry out its duties courageously and without fear. She urged them to be transparent and provide a level playing field for all qualified candidates to help achieve the peace Ghanaians are praying for before, during, and after the elections.
