Accra, April 5, GNA - The Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology branch of the Anlo Students Union (ANSU) on Tuesday called for an end to the succession dispute following the installation of a new paramount chief for the Anlos.

It therefore called on those who had filed a suit at the Accra Fast Track High Court against the new Awoamefia Torgbui Sri and other 13 people for contempt to withdraw it and settle the dispute as 93a family matter".

"As concerned youth of Anlo State, we feel very sad about this development because we strongly believe that these legal battles between and among the leadership of the Adzorvia Clan are going to retard development in the area," the students said in a statement in Accra signed by Mr Boli Dziewornu, President and Ms Patience Gakpetor, Secretary.

They said what was needed now was leadership and development and therefore appealed to everybody to support the new Awoamefia in this endeavour.

The students said they were 93extremely glad" when the new Amoamefia was outdoored after 13 years of protracted chieftaincy dispute hence saw the law suit as coming from 93enemies of the Anlo State".

"What happened in Anloga with respect to the Awoamefia succession dispute leading to the death of some innocent people on November 1, 2007, should always remind us of the general rumpus a chieftaincy dispute can trigger if not properly resolved", they said. "It is a shame that while schools are scoring zero per cent in BECE, poor infrastructure in our schools and lack of teaching and learning materials in the schools in Anlo State, our leaders are using their resources on a fruitless 13-year-old legal battle instead of spending them on the betterment of the very people they claim should be ruled by them," the students added.
