"You feel at home, A place to meet all Ghanaians".
One of the popular and interesting hotspots located in Worcester, MA. is owned by Mr. Richard Kwaku Boateng who is also the Chief Executive Officer. According to Mr. Boateng, Ghanaians were working too hard and there was no place for them to relax and meet all Ghanaians. His goal was to open a restaurant catering West African dishes and bringing Ghanaians together. He wanted to create a place where Ghanaians could feel at home like they are in Ghana and createed a concept where people come together after work, sports activities and church service in order to socialize.
The dream of setting up Anokyekrom Restaurant became a reality 5 years ago and when the restaurant opened, they advertised in the local media to get the attention of the Ghanaian community so they can come and have fun.
Anokyekrom restaurant has also created a concept where not only they cater for the Ghanaian community but also for non-Ghanaians who are interested in authentic West Africa dishes. The restaurant is in the process of looking for a bigger location but has been very tough to find a place to suit their needs. Anokyekrom also serves Palm Wine served in a Calabash, a "hot cake", Kebashaw, Alomo bitters, Mandingo, Wo ba adaa anaa, Herb Afrique and many more.
When this writer visited the restaurant for the first time, there were many regulars who were having a great time and relaxing. The atmosphere was great and the staff offered superb services .
In a conversation with the those present, the following were some of the views expressed on Anokyekrom;
