Anomabo is a town on the coast of the Mfantsiman Municipal District, Central Region of Ghana
Nana Kwasi Brebo III, Acting President of Nkusukum Traditional Area has appealed to the Government to take immediate measures to build a museum at Anomabo, the birth place of the first political party in Ghana, the United Gold Coast Convention (UGCC).
This is to maintain the significance of political parties, correct the historical inaccuracies in the national archives and serve as the reminder to promote the cultural heritage of the country.
The museum parlour, according to the Chief, would be a significant tool for attracting local and international tourists, create employment, enhance students understanding of history and promote research works.
Nana Brebo III made the request when Mr Kwamina Duncan, the Central Regional Minister, paid a courtesy called on him at Saltpond in the Mfantsiman Municipality.
To show their preparedness to support the establishment of the facility, he said the Traditional Council had earmarked a piece of land at a vantage location in the area for work to begin.
Touching on the ongoing debate on 'Founders' Day' celebration, the Paramount Chief pointed out that no single individual founded Ghana and should be celebrated as such.
"No individual single-handedly achieved Ghana's independence. It was a collective efforts by all including we the chiefs, therefore no individual should be celebrated as the founder of Ghana. All efforts must be recognized and praised," he added.
"This, among other inaccuracies in our national history has informed our appeal to the President to help with the establishment of the centre to remedy the misconceptions and other historical distortion of our history,"
He stressed the need for the Government to speed up the process leading to the establishment of a proposed solar site in the area to help create jobs for the unemployed youth.
Nana Brebo further appealed for a swift completion of an abandoned police barracks, road and also improve educational infrastructure in the area to enhance academic work.
Mr Duncan, however, assured that the Government had prioritized the areas of development and will not be blind to their needs.
He tasked the Chiefs to team up with the Assembly to ensure that environmental cleanliness and education remained high on their scale to enable all to contribute their quota to Ghana's development.
The Minister and his entourage also paid a courtesy call on chiefs in other Traditional Areas including Kantamanto Amonu XI, Paramount Chief of Anomabo Traditional Area, Daasebre Kwebu Ewusi VII, Chief of Abeadze Traditiibal Area, and the Vice President of the National House of Chiefs.
At Mankessim, he visited Osagyefo Amanfo Edu VI, Omanhen of Mankessim Traditional Area and later addressed a gathering of assembly members of the Mfantsiman Municipal assembly.
At the meeting, a documentary compiled by the RCC on various insanitary and unhygienic places in the area that posed health hazard was shown to the staff of the Assembly.
Mr Duncan who was not enthused with the deplorable nature of the communities, especially market centres, directed the Assembly to scale up its efforts to prevent possible outbreak of diseases.
