Accra, July 20, GNA - Dr Kofi Ahmed, Chief Medical Officer at the Ministry of Health, on Thursday said all reported anomalies that cropped up in the new salaries of health workers have been corrected and sent to the Controller and Accountant-General's Department.

He told the Ghana News Agency in an interview that, over 5,800 complaints were received. The complaints included "no salary", "incorrect staff number", "wrong grade", "wrong salary step", "wrong cost centre" and "discrepancy in May salary".

Dr Ahmed said: "With these complaints received and corrected, we are very sure that the Controller and Accountant-General's Department will accordingly pay the correct salaries by close of July." He said, such anomalies, which arose from the payment of salaries were normal because changing or moving from a grade like the Government Universal Salary Structure to the Health Sector Salary Scale could create challenges.

He therefore assured all health workers, especially those who did not get any salary in June, to be patient until the end of July. "If only such workers filled the health sector salaries compliant forms, they would be paid with all arrears," he said.
