As the controversy surrounding the alleged $90 million campaign tape, that has drawn a wedge between former President Rawlings and his former close pal, President John Evans Atta Mills, is yet to die down, snippets of information available to The Independent say, another damning Mills tape is out.
Information available to The Independent from the camp of the former First Lady, Nana Konadu Agyemang Rawlings says, that camp has again intercepted an alleged propaganda tape that seeks to draw the attention of the NDC delegates to the positive attributes of President John Evans Atta Mills.
According to a highly-placed source within the Konadu camp, they intercepted a tape purported to contain some conversation between some GAME members, over a plot to ditch Nana Konadu, by roping into the campaign, credible and tried and tested Pastors, Bishops and Men and Women of God to lead the campaign to get President Mills endorsed at the Sunyani conference of the ruling party, scheduled to take place between July 7, 2011 and July 9, 2011.
As part of their machinations, the GAME will very soon contact some men and women of God and brainwash them to use the various pulpits in the country to do propaganda work in the form of whipping the delegates to endorse President Mills massively at the conference.
Among others, the Pastors and Bishops will be expected to tout the positive attributes of President Mills each time they mount the pulpits in an apparent show of solidarity and in a move to tell the party supporters and activists that, there could be no better candidate to lead the NDC in 2012 except President Mills.
The men and women of God are to tell their congregations that, President Mills has so far exhibited the traits of a peaceful person, whose presidency has transformed the country into a safe-having of peace. As part of what the Konadu camp terms as the gigantic plot, the preaching and sermons of these people of God will be aired on radio and shown on the various television networks with facilitation by the members of GAME.
Speaking to The Independent on the alleged tape recording, Kofi Adams, Spokesman of the Rawlingses said, “it’s a pity that, we should stoop so low in our quest to ensure a win for our candidate” but said, “this will backfire.” He said all those who believe that, the conference could be won on the wings of propaganda will be living in a wonderland, indicating that “propaganda has no place in this”.
Kofi Adams told The Independent that, the delegates of the NDC are abreast with the facts on the ground in the party and so with this plot out, the congress will then be fought on the issues of facts against propaganda.
“Let us wait and see who wins at the end of the day,” Kofi Adams said, indicating that, facts are like the cork that cannot be suppressed under water”.
Barbara Asamoah, Spokesperson for GAME, denied the alleged campaign plot bursting out that, if members of FONKAR think that, GAME is organising men of God to campaign for Mills, then they should also organise men of God to campaign for the former first lady.
She further added that, GAME will not respond to all allegations from FONKAR since some of the allegations are meant to score cheap political points.
