BUT FOR the timely intervention of passersby, the Communications Director for Techiman South NPP, John Kofi Donyina would have met his untimely death.
This was after he was attacked by an NDC goon around 7:30pm on Tuesday.
Mr. Donyina, a well-known radio commentator was returning home when the incident occurred.
He told DAILY GUIDE that when he reached the Nana Abena Market he met his attacker Kojo Bright alias Sampras whom he knows very well and greeted him.
He said unknown to him Bright was waiting for him with a sharpened cutlass.
“As I started walking towards my house he slashed my back with the cutlass then swung at my head but I was able to dodge and in the process the cutlass fell from his hand,” he said.
The victim said he then shouted for help and some Good Samaritans came to his rescue.
Mr. Donyina narrated that he was rushed to the Holy Family Hospital where he was treated; he later reported the case to the Techiman Police who took his statement and promised to arrest his attacker.
However as at the time of filing this report no arrest had been made.
On March 25 some NDC thugs attacked the Takofiano polling station and inflicted severe cutlass wounds on Kwadwo Sarfo, an NPP serial caller.
Three suspects were arrested but the municipal commander allegedly released them immediately following instructions ‘from above.’
That same day, the driver and bodyguard of Professor Ameyaw Akumfi, MP for Techiman North were also attacked with machetes at a polling station at Jama Timponim, the MP’s hometown.
Since the biometric registration started there have been many attacks coming from the NDC camp against NPP members and leaders but in all these cases the police have refused to take action.
