Apam (C/R), March 10, GNA - The Mount Zion Methodist Church at Apam at the weekend celebrated 100 years of its chapel with rededication and unveiling of a plague. Most Rev. Robert Aboagye-Mensah, Presiding Bishop of the Methodist Church, Ghana, called on Christians to revere a chapel, because it was a symbolic expression of the presence of God among his people. "In times of joy, sorrow, anxiety, pain and distress, the chapel has provided space where God's word has been preached and heard," Most Rev Aboagye-Mensah said. He said the celebration of the centenary was a great challenge to the Methodist community on how to maintain it for the next generation of worshippers. Very Rev Michael Abedu, Superintendent Minister of Apam circuit, said the Church would raise funds to build a centenary hall. Mr Mark K.N. Okusu, Chairman of centenary planning committee said the rapid growth of the Church at Apam called for construction of a permanent chapel.
