The Ashanti Development Forum has strongly condemned the consistent criminal stereotyping of the Ashanti Region by functionaries of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) flagbearer, John Dramani Mahama.

This condemnation comes after Stan Xoese Dogbe and Efo Kormi, among others, alleged an assassination plot against John Mahama and some NDC parliamentary candidates in the Ashanti Region.

The group has called on former President John Dramani Mahama to immediately come out and apologise to residents of the Ashanti Region.

During a press conference on Tuesday, one of their leading members, Dr. Keskin Owusu-Poku, addressed the issue, viewing this allegation as a serious matter that compromises the lives of Ghanaians, regardless of their political affiliations.

They emphasized that the Ashanti Region is known for its peace and hospitality, and such baseless allegations only serve to fuel anti-Ashanti sentiments within the NDC.

The Ashanti Development Forum calls for a swift retraction and apology from John Mahama’s functionaries, as well as a public apology from the NDC flagbearer himself.

They also urge the Police Service to investigate these allegations and invite the functionaries for questioning.

The forum cautions that the NDC’s consistent stereotyping of the Ashanti Region may be a deliberate attempt to provoke violence and undermine peace in the region.

They assure the public that the Ashanti Region will remain peaceful before, during, and after the December 7 elections.
