The National Planning Committee of the 2012 National Road Safety Awards has called on journalists to submit entries for the media category of the Awards.
A statement issued in Accra on Monday by Mr. Kwame Koduah Atuahene on behalf of the Committee said, the categories included Best Road Safety Report print, radio and television.
The Award is the biggest platform that celebrates the contributions and impact of journalists to road safety improvement in Ghana.
It said nominations or entries for the awards should be publications relevant to the National Road Safety Strategy III and National Road Safety Action Plans published as news stories, features, editorials, documentaries and discussion programmes between November 2011 and August 30, 2012.
The statement said road safety remained a threat to the country’s growth and poverty reduction efforts though avoidable.
It noted that the support by the media in holding stakeholders accountable to their commitment was critical to the attainment of the National targets of reducing casualty levels by 50 per cent by the year 2020.
It said the nominations should come in printed copies for the print category and recorded copies of publication for the electronic category.
“It should indicate the name of the author, time and date of publication and submitted to the Chairman of the Committee by September 7, 2012,” it said.
