A meeting of the Appointments Committee of Parliament was called off yesterday, May 12, 2005. No reasons were adduced for the cancellation of the meeting.
The Appointments Committee was expected to deal with three deputy ministerial nominees, whose appointments had been deferred. The three, Mr. J.B. Danquah Adu, Mr. Daniel Dugan and Nana Ato Arthur, have been ministers in waiting, since March this year, when they were named by President Kufuor.
According to sources however, the committee was unable to meet because of the unresolved issue on the three. The three it seems would have to be ministers in waiting, since the committee has not rescheduled any meeting yet.
