The Domestic Violence and Victim Support Unit (DOVVSU) of the Ghana Police Service is investigating a sodomy case involving a mobile phone repairs apprentice and his boss.

The 22-year-old apprentice at Teshie near Accra who seems to have had enough of his 40-year-old boss’s constant sexual acts, reported the matter to the Kpeshie Divisional Police.

The young man who lives with his boss at Teshie told the police his boss fondles his buttocks and forces him to perform oral sex on him.

DSP Margaret Sapati Agbemabiese, Officer in Charge of DOVVSU at the Kpeshie Division told Joy News’ Anna Agyepong the victim alleged the suspect not only forced him into the sexual acts, he also threatened him not to disclose the abuse to anyone.

He would either fondle the victim until he discharged semen into his (boss’) mouth or vice versa until the victim reported the matter to a brother-in-law who accompanied him to lodge a complaint with the police.

He has since been undergoing counseling after being issued medical forms to attend hospital.

The accused, according to DSP Margaret Sapati Agbemabiese, admitted only an incident of sodomy with the victim but pleaded for leniency.

He faces a charge of indecent assault.

Last month, three young men suspected to be homosexuals openly expressed jealousy by castigating each other for partner-snatching. Some items retrieved from them at the time of their arrest were water-based lubricants suspected to be used for penetration, petroleum jell, a dressing mirror, tooth brush and paste.

This week, in the Eastern Region, three boys were reportedly sodomised by a twenty-seven year old prison officer.

Lance Corporal Raymond Ametepey of the Akuse Prisons is currently in police custody.

DOVVSU says its recent outreach programmes to sensitize the public on domestic violence reveals an alarming trend. According to the unit, many of the young boys who are abused and their families are reluctant to report their ordeals to the police.
