In line with the Convention People’s Party (CPP) resolve to redeem its image and achieve greatness, members of the Cape Coast branch are calling their colleagues across the country to convince Mrs. Araba Bentsi Enchill to accept to lead the party ahead of the next general elections in 2020.
According to them, the party needs new leadership and direction to steer it back on course in order to reclaim its prominent position in the democratic governance annals of the country.
“We believe the time has come for the party to transform itself into a much more viable alternative to the two-party monotony of opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) and governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) administrations which have borne no tangible fruits for this country” they claimed.
The Central Regional Secretary of CPP, Mr. Ato MacLean who read the press statement on behalf the members described Araba Bentsi Enchill as ‘iron lady’ who has the right credentials and political credibility in the party having served in various capacities in the party hierarchy.
He called on all the CPP party faithful to work hard and diligently for Araba Bentsi Enchill to win and to reinvigorate the great CPP and recapture the preeminence it once enjoyed in the body politic of this great country.
Mr. MacLean stated that Mrs. Bentsi Enchill has demonstrated beyond doubt, her ability to build consensus to achieve the positive results.
He reminded all and sundry that Mr. Bentsi Enchill remained in one of the splinter groups of the defunct CPP/PNP that emerged after December 1981 coup and was active in reorganizing of the party till the court restored the CPP name back to the party.
Mrs. Araba Bentsi Enchill started as a Young Pioneer during late Osagyfo Dr. Maame Nkrumah regime and resurfaced as a grown woman in the Dr. Hilla Limann’s government from September 1979 till December 1981 when the PNP administration was needlessly overthrown and the 3rd Republic truncated.
She served as the Cape Coast constituency and Central Regional chairperson for two terms and contribute to securing party offices from her own resources in all the constituencies in the region.
