Tamale, Feb. 06, GNA - The Northern Regional Command of the Ghana Ar= med Forces has called on all the other security agencies to effectively collaborate in the fight against violent crime and maintain civil order t= o ensure social security and peace in the region.
The Army had also appealed to the media to understand that the Army may sometimes have to use minimal force to ensure compliance of law and order=
and "this must not be misconstrued". The Commanding Officer of the 6 Infantry Battalion Lieutenant Kernel=
Albert Kwabena Adu said this in an address to officers at the weekend in Tamale during a dinner night for the Senior Officers, which is usually us= ed to take stock of the year.
Lt Adu said "the Army is the friend in development and is there beca= use of the people but mostly its functions are misunderstood by people, especially the media leading to several negative impressions about its image". He called on the media to understand the Army's work and see it as a=
friend for collaborative and effective development and for a crime free society. The Minister Designate for the Northern Region Mr Moses Bukari Magbe= nba said the government was considering building accommodation complex for al= l the security agencies in the country and the Northern Region would be the=
first to benefit from the package, which would be assisted by the governm= ent of South Korea. He said the support of the security services in the maintenance of peace and security was paramount and could not be misinterpreted and urge= d them to continue in their efforts to fight violent crime since the region=
