Arrest of Protesters: We’re working with stakeholders to address issues – Peace Council

The National Peace Council has served notice that it is aware of the arrest of some persons who were demonstrating on the streets of Accra.

It has since assured that it is working with all stakeholders to ensure peace and calm in the country.

A statement from their outfit said it would ensure they safeguarded the peace of the country.

Convener of #FixTheCountry movement, Ralph Williams, Elorm Ababio Esq. (Ama Governor), and 37 others have been remanded by the Circuit Courts in Accra for charges ranging from conspiracy, unlawful assembly, causing unlawful damage, offensive conduct conducive to the breach of peace, assault on a public officer and defacement of public notice.

The Group was on the street to protest against galamsey that has destroyed Ghana’s forest reserves and water bodies.

However, the Police say that while the protest was ongoing, the protesters were involved in some unlawful acts that they could not let go of.
