The monthly Art market to expose and promote artists and their products, and as well enable them to contribute to the development of tourism opened in Accra on Friday.

The market, which is organised by Hotel Shangri-La every month, aims at creating awareness of Ghana's quality products to encourage exports and strengthen the financial status of artists.

On display are beads, kente, Tie and Dye and fine arts.

Ms Frances Sey, Special Events Manager of the hotel said, this month, the market was to afford the public the opportunity to purchase their Christmas wares at affordable prices.

The November art market would therefore, serve as a one-stop shopping centre for the public and a privilege for them to discover the diversified works of arts.

It is also to encourage the public to develop the love for artwork and also motivate them purchase and own a collection of art.

The market would serve as a platform for the artist and exhibitors to share their experience and learn from one another.

"With the emergence of the Shangri-La Art Market, the revival of the batik industry has been enhanced and brought about much development in creativity and innovation by exhibitors," she said.
