Artist remanded for causing harm to his mother's rescuer

Cape Coast, March 21, GNA - Robert Bannerman, a 23-year-old artist, who allegedly bit off and swallowed his friend's upper lip, because he had gone to his mother's rescue, was on Tuesday remanded by a circuit court at Cape Coast. Bannerman, who was outraged with his friend for rescuing his mother as he (accused) attempted to maul her pleaded not guilty to intentionally causing unlawful harm and will be brought before the court again on April 5.

Police Chief Inspector Hope Azasoo told the court presided over by Mr Mustapha Logoh that Bannerman and the victim Nana Ewusi were friends living in the same house in Cape Coast. He on March 18, Bannerman, who lived with the mother attacked and stripped her naked as she shouted for help and Ewusi who was at home at the time went to her rescue.

Chief Inspector Azasoo said Bannerman became furious as a result and chased Ewusi with a knife in an attempt to stab him. He said in an ensuing struggle when he caught up with him Bannerman bit off and swallowed his friend's upper lip.
