BEFORE HE TRIES ANOTHER ESCAPE!!!
The National Democratic Congress Youth Activist Network (YAN) wishes to emphasise that the NDC and Prof. John Evans Atta-Mills on page 24 of the 2008 NDC Manifesto promised to deepen political accountability and transparency by prosecuting corrupt government officials. On 4th of August 2009 on Joy midday news, Dr. Raymond Atuguba also emphasised that corrupt government officials must be prosecuted for murder because they deny the poor of quality health care, quality education, good roads, agricultural development and good standard of living.
Indeed, we the members of NDC-YAN allude to the fact that corruption thrives in a system that is not open, transparent and accountable, against this backdrop, we want to state very emphatically that the Attorney-General and the state institutions must quicken the prosecution of the corrupt ex-government officials, because justice delayed is justice denied.
Alliance for Accountable Governance (AFAG) which is the brainchild of the failed Presidential Candidate, Nana Akuffo-Addo and a puppet of NPP embarked on a baseless and a completely unnecessary demonstration last Tuesday, to which no petition and for that matter concerns were delivered to government. The 8 point falsehood YAN disproved on 29th of July, 2009 left them with no choice other than to play it safe. It would have done a lot of good to the innocent Ghanaians they led in oblivion to the street, if they had added the following corrupt acts of their party when they were in government;
• Asamoah Boateng’s ¢ 1.709 trillion scandal at the ministry of information. • • Former Foreign Minister, Mr. Osei Agyei’s $ 10 million or GH¢ 14,650000 rice scandal • • The whooping GH¢ 71.7 million scandal at the Ghana@50 secretariat which is pointing fingers at Kwadwo Mpiani and Dr. Wireku Brobbey. • • Multi-billion cedi scandal in the school feeding programme. • • The looting and ransacking of the official residence of the speaker of parliament by the immediate former speaker, Ebenezer Sekyi Hughes. • This is very indicative of the fact that, the NPP have planned a very grand scheme to divert the attention of Ghanaians from their scandalous regime. Mr. Asamoah Boateng has been prevented twice from escaping outside the country with his two daughters at a time when they are suppose to be in school; meanwhile he knows very well that he is under investigations over allegations of corruption. Hon. Osei Agyei also attempted to escape and his passport was seized. Parading all this vivid evidence and that of their one night camping at the BNI office when Kwadwo Mpeani was invited emphasises the fact that the NPP is AFRAID OF ACCOUNTABILITY. But whether they like it or not, they have to account for their stewardship.
The attempt by Asamoah Boateng and Osei Agyei to escape from accountability leaves much to be desired. We therefore advise the NPP and their former government officials to be decorous and cooperative with the Attorney-General and the state institutions to enhance proper delivery of accountability and justice. Long live accountable government!! Long live YAN!!! Long live Ghana!!!
