Asante-Mampong MP invests in educational infrastructure

Mampong (Ash), March 2, GNA - Mr Francis Addai-Nimoh, Member of Parliame= nt (MP) for Asante-Mampong, has spent GH¢15,998 of his share of the Ghana Education Trust Fund (GETFund) budget to provide sanitation facilities fo= r Mampong Presbyterian cluster of schools. Additionally, he is supporting the construction of classrooms for schools at Patase, Sisease and Kokoben.

At a ceremony to inaugurate the sanitation facilities, including a washroom, Mr Addai-Nimoh said he was determined to help improve schools infrastructure in the area. This, he said, would go a long way to create the right environment for smooth academic work. He encouraged the children to be disciplined, respectful and cultiv= ate the habit of studying on their own.

The MP pledged to work hard to develop the municipality. Mr Frank Yaw Musah, the Municipal Director of Education, said the Nation= al Literacy Acceleration Programme, which entails the use of the local langu= age in teaching at pre-school and lower primary level, would help raise acade= mic performance of pupils. He, therefore, called on teachers, who are being trained for the program= me

to take the training seriously.

Mr Musah welcomed the new facilities for the schools noting that, they would promote the health of both pupils and teachers. He said it was important to ensure maintenance culture all the time. He used the occasion to advice the teachers to work hard to raise t= he performance of the schools in the Basic Education Certificate Examination=

(BECE). The Headmistress, Madam Agnes Osei, said the schools built in 1927 had n= ot seen any renovation. She called for the construction of a library and supply of more computer= s to up-grade the learning and teaching of Information and Communication Technology (ICT). 2 March 10
