Kumasi (Asahnti), 22 Jan. '99 -

The Bible Society of Ghana (BSG) is to launch a new Asante-Twi New Testament audio cassette, the first locally produced multi-voice presentation, to help the society to effectively communicate the word of God to the people.

The audio cassette will be launched at a one-day seminar to be organised by the Society for Church leaders and representatives of 200 Churches from eight denominations in the Ashanti Region in Kumasi on Saturday, January 23.

They are the Catholic Church Presbyterian Church of Ghana, Methodist Church, Baptist Church, Seventh Day Adventist (SDA), Church of Pentecost, Assemblies of God, and the Deeper Life Bible Church.

This was announced by Mr Immanuel Kofi Agamah, Publishing Process Officer of the Society when addressing a Press conference in Kumasi last Wednesday.

He said since 1965, the Society has been committed to the use of the print media to communicate the Scriptures to Ghanaians and with the introduction of new technologies, the society with other global fellowships have branched into the use of non-print media productions to communicate the Scriptures to the majority of the people who cannot read and write.

Mr Agamah pointed out that so far, the Society has developed and packaged the New Testament on audio cassette formats in Asante-Twi, Akuapem Twi, Ewe, Nzema and Dagbani.

"As the largest ethnic community in Ghana, it is right for the Society to choose and use the Ashanti Region for such a pilot project aimed at testing the impact of listening to the word of God on the audio cassette and radio", he added.
