Kumasi, March 21, GNA - The Reverend Otuo Acheampong, Chairperson of the Asante Presbytery of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana, has declared that without spiritual independence, the country's political independence would be meaningless.

He said Ghanaians needed change in character and behaviour to move the nation forward.

Rev Acheampong was giving a sermon to mark the 31st anniversary and thanksgiving service of Asante Presbytery Women's Fellowship held in Kumasi on Sunday.

The theme for the celebration was, 93Go Therefore and Make Disciples of all Nations".

He advised the women to show respect to their husbands and be honest and sincere in character building for others to emulate. Rev Acheampong urged women in Presbyterian Church to adopt house-to-house and market-to-market evangelism to win more souls for Christ.

He appealed to the women's fellowship to allow God to direct and guide them in all their endeavours.

Madam Hanna Brenyah, President of the fellowship, advised her colleagues to refrain from spending much money on funerals and weddings. She further advised the women to stop moving from church to church for miracles and concentrate on their mother church. Madam Cecilia Owusu-Ansah, the secretary, in her report said the five billion hostel under construction have reached roofing stage. She said through fund raising and voluntary contribution from members about 300 million cedis have been spent on the hostel at Kyirapatre, a suburb of Kumasi.
