The Private Secretary to the Asantehene, Mr. Owusu Boateng has denied a publication the ?Daily Guide? newspaper to the effect that, the Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II has blasted Ex-President Jerry John Rawlings, on his pronouncements against officials of government and President Kufuor.
The publication captioned ?Rawlings Blasted by Asantehene? on the newspaper?s front-page, of today is a report from the Presidents courtesy call on the Asantehene in Kumasi, as part of his five-days tour of the Ashanti Region, which begun today.
According to Asantehene?s Private Secretary, the Otumfuo never blasted the former President as is being reported by the Newspaper in today?s edition, but rather he said the Otumfuo was advising all politicians to guard against statements that could lead to violence. He said the advice was meant for both the NDC and NPP sides.
When Peace FM called the Editor of the ?Daily Guide? Newspaper, Mrs. Gina Blay, she admitted that, the paper erred in putting out a sensational caption, and quickly apologised. She however denied that the paper has a fixation on the former President. She therefore pleaded for the sensational headline, which she herself described as too harsh.
