Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, Asantehene has arrived in the UK for a private visit. Accompanying him was his wife, Lady Julia, and staff from the Manhyia Palace.

The Asantehene leaves for Scotland tomorrow at the invitation of Guinness Africa, whose Managing Director, David Hampshire is retiring after several years? service to the company.

Otumfuo will also honour invitations to the US to hold meetings with James Wolfensohn, the President of the World Bank and later, UN Secretary General Kofi Annan before returning to London in July enroute to Ghana.

Earlier this year, Asanteman feted the World Bank President with a mini-durbar at the Manhyia Palace in Kumai during which Wolfensohn commended the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II for his dedication and commitment to the development and well-being of his people.

He said the world has a lot to learn from the wisdom and ingenuity of the Asantehene, who had combined traditional leadership and modernity to promote social justice, development and unity among his people.
