Kumasi (Ashanti Region), 13 Nov 1998 -- The Asantehene, Otumfuo Opoku Ware the Second, has again expressed his gratitude to President Jerry John Rawlings and the government for the immense assistance given him before, during and after his five months' medical check-up in London.
He was particularly grateful to President Rawlings for arranging his flight from Kumasi to Accra and London.
The Asantehene was speaking during a courtesy call on him by the Asante 'Kro Ye Kuo', a benevolent society of Asantes resident in Wa in the Upper West Region, to welcome him back home at the Manhyia Palace in Kumasi yesterday.
Otumfuo Opoku Ware thanked the group for taking the trouble to travel all the way from Wa to welcome him.
He asked for God's blessings for them and prosperity for whatever enterprises they may be engaged in.
Nana Akwasi Owusu Adusei, chairman of the society, told newsmen later that the society aims at fostering unity and offering their services towards the development of the Upper West Region.
The society also intends to help traders from any of the Akan speaking areas whose businesses take them to the region in times of need.
