The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, is to embark on a trip to the United States of America (USA) and the United Kingdom (UK) early next month.

While in the USA, he will be on an investigation tour selling the Ashanti Region and the country, at large, to prospective investors. He is scheduled to meet businessmen who are interested in farming.

The Education Endowment Fund he established will also be on top of his agenda and he will try to woo well-meaning American institutions to invest in the area of education, which is fast degrading due to lack of funds.

From the USA, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II will be visiting Glasgow University, where he will be honoured by the institution for his pioneering role in championing education and other areas of the human development.

Crown Prince Charles will also be among other guests to be honoured by the university, which is one of the distinguished institutions across the globe.

At a sitting of the Kumasi Traditional Council at the Manhyia Palace, the chiefs urged the occupant of the Golden Stool on to seek investors from both countries since investors would help create employment for the jobless youth.

The chiefs promised to support Asantehene in his bid to place Ashanti on the world map, and pledged to make available vast areas of land for investors.

On the education fund, Otumfuo expressed dissatisfaction about the lackadaisical attitude being displayed by some paramount chiefs who have failed to make any contribution.

A two-hundred cedi contribution supposed to be collected by the chiefs from their areas of jurisdiction every month has not been forthcoming.

He wondered why the chiefs are not serious about the fund which has since its establishment taken care of needy but brilliant students in and outside the region at all levels of the educational ladder.
