Asantehene to participate in Anyiam-Osigwe Lectures

Kumasi, Oct 17, GNA - Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, Asantehene, has accepted an invitation from the Management of Osigwe Anyiam-Osigwe Foundation as the guest of honour to chair the seventh session of the Emmanuel Onyechere Osigwe Anyiam-Osigwe lecture series which begins on November 17, at the Nigerian Institute of International Affairs (NIIA) in Lagos.

A press release signed by Mr G.B. Osei-Antwi, Media Relations Manager at the Manhyia Palace, said the invitation was brought to the Palace by a three-member delegation led by Mr Michael Anyiam-Osigwe, Co-ordinator-General of the Foundation.

The lecture on the theme, "The Mindset Factor in Creative Transformation, All Minds at Work, All Hands on Deck", is dedicated to Anyiam-Osigwe's study of man as manifestation of divine intelligence. It is a scholarly examination of the integral parts of the holistic approach to human existence and development including the inter-relationship between the various parts, to make them applicable in the individual's daily life for his upliftment and society.

According to the release, the co-ordinator explained that Asantehene's invitation was based on the fact that, the Foundation acknowledged the broad understanding of Africa's developmental challenges by the Asantehene who was a custodian of traditional institution and values in their most pristine forms.

It said the Foundation also accorded the uniquely experiences the Asantehene had acquired in his professional career, knowledge and experiences that would enrich the goals and objectives of the session. The session was to unravel the keys to Africa's socio-political and economic transformation in view of globalisation as it bore on Anyiam-Osigwe's postulation on the role of the mindset in socio-economic transformation.

The release said Asantehene, appreciated what the siblings of Anyiam-Osigwe had done to propagate knowledge since the lectures were instituted seven years ago.

It said Otumfuo Osei Tutu in accepting the invitation, expressed concern about how Africans could bring ideas together for development. He said institution of the lectures would help improve and increase the dept of knowledge to enhance customs and traditional values of Africa.
