Asanteman Union in Italy donates to hospitals

Pramso (Ash), Aug 17, GNA- The Asanteman Union based in Pordenone in Italy has donated 80 mattresses worth GH=A25,000 (50 million cedis) to four district hospitals in the Ashanti Region. They are the Asante-Mampong District Hospital, Saint Michael's Catholic Hospital at Jachie-Pramso, Offinso Saint Patrick's Hospital and Agogo Presbyterian Hospital.

Making the presentations on behalf of the Union at different ceremonies, Mr Mark Obeng, Chairman of the Union said it was their widow's mite to help improve quality health care delivery in the region. He said last year the Union presented 150 mattresses to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) in Kumasi and assorted food items to the Oyoko Orphanage in the Sekyere East District worth GH=A2 1,100 (11 million cedis) and GH=A2 700 (seven million cedis) respectively. Mr Charles Dennis, Welfare Secretary of the Union, appealed to the beneficiaries to make good use of the items and pledged to continue supporting institutions when the need arises.

Dr Sarfo Asante, Medical Director of Saint Michael's Hospital, who received the items on behalf of the hospital, thanked the union for the gesture and appealed to Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs) and philanthropists to emulate their example.
