Asempa & Joy FM Dump Loose Talker

The Management of Asempa FM and Joy FM of the Multimedia Group, have on Friday apologised to President John Evans Atta Mills and Mr Ato Ahwoi for airing unprintable comments made against them by John Kumah, a member of the Young Elephants, a New Patriotic Party (NPP) youth group,.

The action by the radio stations leaves the loose-talking NPP activist all by himself as he faces an imminent caught action, all alone, from Mr Ato Ahwoi who, all indications show, is heading for the courts to clean his hard won reputation and that of the President from the stinking mud thrown at them by the overzealous Akufo-Addo bootlicker who went overdrive in a bid to impress his political master.

John Kumah on Saturday 23rd July, 2011 on the Kukurantumi programme on Asempa FM made a highly provocative and inflammable derogatory comment about the two personalities, which was subsequently aired on Joy FM on Monday, 25th July, 2011. John Kumah who has been recently reported to have bragged that he would face Mr Ato Ahwoi squarely in court, has since arrogantly refused to retract the unfortunate comments he made against the number one citizen of this country and the highly placed personality of the government.

The statement issued by the management of the Accra-based radio stations read in part as: “The management of Asempa FM sincerely and unconditionally apologizes to The President and Mr. Ato Ahwoi, their families and friends, for the inadvertent publication of damaging and disparaging information about them and for any injury to their reputation as nationally and internationally respected personalities.”

The statement explained that management of the stations was its apology to all insinuations and innuendoes, which the defamatory statements may give rise to, or could be understood to mean.

“We regret any harm, damage and/or embarrassment the broadcast may have occasioned to The President or Mr. Ato Ahwoi in their reputations, offices, professions and images,” the statement concluded.

The President has already decided not to pursue the matter. But Mr Ato Ahwoi has served notice he will get to the bottom of the matter and clear his dented image.

The two radio stations having realised their mistake and taken the decision to do what is right by apologising to the two personalities- and should Mr Ahwoi accept their apology- have made it palpably clear that John Kumah is alone. He will be facing any court action by Mr Ahwoi all by himself.

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) in its recent ‘all die be die’ craze has let its members, officials and activists on a loose-talking spree. John Kumah has not been lucky like the rest of them and thus has landed himself in hot soup after biting more that he could chew.

When John Kumah’s comments attracted the attention of the security agencies, which took interest in it but had to abandon the case because President Mills decided to forgive the uncultured NPP activist, the NPP rallied behind him. Communications Director of the NPP, Nana Akomea had tagged him as a hero.
