The Ashaiman Municipal Assembly has hinted of plans to go digital in the collection of its internal revenue.
According to the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Albert Boakye-Okyere, this is to increase the tax net of the Assembly and essentially, not to lose sight of other businesses operating within the enclave.
Speaking to Class News' Ibrahim Obeng-Mensah, the MCE said, although the second half of last year saw a tremendous increase of the Assembly's internally generated funds, the property naming address system did not help the Assembly as envisaged.
Explaining further, he assured that the assembly will use modern scientific data in 2018 to enable the Assembly maximise its revenue generation.
“We are now going to have scientific data and digital mapping so it will be easier for people to locate where to go [and collect revenue] and also monitor where revenues have been collected.
“The little search I did within the past few weeks, I have seen that a lot of businesses have not been captured and there is a need to bring everybody into the net,” he said.
