Ashaiman, May 23, GNA - All but one of the executive members of the Ashaiman Constituency branch of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), had the shock of their lives when they were voted out of office at an election held during the Constituency conference at Ashaiman at the weekend. Mrs Happy Amegashie, Women Organiser, was the only executive member who retained her position.

Issah Braimah polled 67 votes to lose the Chairmanship position to Mohammed Gomdah, who had 78 votes. Bawa Ibrahim also polled 67 votes to cede the position of Secretary to Abaena Raphael Muniru, who secured 78 votes. James Vee-Jay had 90 votes to beat Hebel Adjei, the incumbent Organiser who polled 54 votes.

Joe Allan Quansah won the Propaganda Secretary position with 88 votes, while Joe Mensah was elected unopposed as the Treasurer. Tony Apenyo, the Vice Chairman stepped down to pave way for Shadad Oman to become the new Vice. Whereas supporters of the victorious contestants jubilated after the results were announced by officials from the Electoral Commission, the losers and their well wishers, unceremoniously left the Conference scene highly dejected and disappointed.

The new Constituency Chairman, Mr Gomdah stressed the need for unity, peace and stability among members in order to move the party in the Constituency forward. While pledging to co-operate with the old executives, he urged them to always bring their rich experiences to bear on the activities of the newly-elected officers. Mr Gomdah hoped with unity of purpose by members, the constituency could retain the Ashaiman seat for the party come 2012.
