Ashanti Region earmarked for aircraft maintenance facility in West Africa - Minister

The Ashanti Regional Minister, Simon Osei Mensah has announced plans to bring in investors to establish an aircraft maintenance center in the region to cater for the entire West African sub-region.

According to him, he has met with the investors who have expressed interest in the deal and are feverishly preparing the grounds for the takeoff of the project.

The plan according to the Minister is to make Kumasi and the Region as a whole, the aircraft maintenance hub in the West African Sub-region.

“We want to make the Ashanti Region the aircrafts maintenance hub in West Africa so that individuals and companies who own aircraft can maintain and repair their aircrafts there. We have met the investor and have discussed the prospects and I can assure you they’re very bright and they are coming very soon” he assured.

According to Mr. Osei Mensah, his delegation has also struck a deal for the supply of solar energy and lamps to some schools within Asanteman to help improve standards of education in the region, particularly in the rural areas.

Mr. Osei Mensah who was interacting with indigenes of Asanteman resident in Denver Colorado in the United States of America as part of the celebrations of this year’s Asanteman day said the accelerated development of the region remains one of the cardinal objectives of the current administration.
