The Ashanti Regional Minister, Simon Osei Mensah has assured indigenes of the region resident in the United States of America of efforts by the current government to ensure the road network and health facilities in the region are put on the best of conditions to allow for the rapid and accelerated development of Asanteman.

According to him, with respect to the road networks in the region, some have been awarded on contract while contractors are on site working on some of them.

Addressing indigenes of Asanteman in Denver, Colorado in the United States of America as part of the celebrations of this year’s Asanteman Day, the Minister noted that government is not oblivious of the needs of the region and is putting in place measures that will help ameliorate the challenges faced by the region, particularly with regards to infrastructure.

Mr. Osei Mensah said challenges confronting the health sector in the region are also being addressed, explaining that the contribution of all sons and daughters was crucial to dealing with the issue.

He was particularly grateful to the First Lady, Madam Rebecca Akufo Addo for constructing a brand new Mother and Baby unit for the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital to facilitate health care delivery in the region.

On concerns raised by the business community with respect to the challenges they encounter at the ports when they ship their consignments to the country, the Minister assured that steps will be taken to streamline activities to ensure that importers have a fair idea of the amount they will pay as duty on their cargo.

He mentioned the recent initiatives spearheaded by the Vice President to help ease doing business at the ports as measures that have tremendously improved government revenue and sealed loopholes that promoted revenue leakage.
