Ashanti Regional Director Of Postal Services Warns Mail Thieves

The Acting Ashanti Regional Director of Postal Services, Mr.. Isaac Twum Barimah has warned that any employee of the Corporation caught involved in pilfering letters and other fraudulent deals will be dismissed outright. He gave the warning at a forum organised by the Corporation to commemorate this year's World Post Day in Kumasi, Mr.. Twum Barimah said the Corporation has adopted measures that will enable it to break new grounds outside its traditional services to help it to meet the challenges of the time. The measures include, mounting of container postal services to serve communitites that are far from outstation post offices, the reconstruction and renovation of all district post offices in the country. He disclosed that the Corporation has established money transfer agreements with the United States, Britain, Canada, Belguim and Japan to make sure that remittances from Ghanaians living abroad to relatives in the country are conveniently exchanged with cedis. it has also put in place a mechanism to scan all parcels going outside the country to check drug trafficking. In an address read on his behalf, the Chairman of the Board of Governors of Ghana Postal Services Henry Anyidoho urged management to intensify their awareness creation on the facilities and services that the Corporation offers to the public. He cautioned the management not to be complacement with its achievements, but utilise all available resources to raise the standard of the Corporation.
