Asiakwa (E/R), Aug. 16, GNA - The staff of the Akim Asiakwa Health Centre have been commended for their high sense of duty in saving the lives of four pregnant women, who were rushed there in labour. Speaking to the Ghana News Agency at Akim Osino, Madam Rose Nyakwa, recalled that, she recently had to rush her daughter, Amma Lovel Ameyaw in labour to the Kibi Government Hospital, and when she realised that the staff at the Maternity Ward were delaying in attending to her, she decided to rush her again to the Asiakwa Health Centre, some 10 kilometres away. She said she met the Midwife, Madam Mary Apetorgbor at the Centre, who promptly attended to the daughter for a successful delivery. When GNA contacted Madam Apetogbor, she confirmed the report and recalled that three similar critical cases had been rushed there recently, for which the staff attended to them for safe deliveries. Madam Nyakwa had therefore, called on the authorities of the Kibi Government Hospital to ensure effective supervision of the staff of the Maternity Ward in order to save the lives of labouring women, as done by their counterparts at the Asiakwa Health Centre.
